Overview

The ink suction pump is an important part of the printer’s cleaning system. It removes waste ink produced during printhead cleaning from the capping station and sends it through the waste ink tube into the waste ink bottle.

Features & Functions

1. Removes waste ink and air bubbles
   During printhead cleaning, the pump creates suction to draw out excess ink and trapped air, helping clear the nozzles and restore smooth ink flow.
2. Prevents waste ink buildup
   It drains waste ink from the capping station, helping prevent ink from collecting around the cap top, wiper blade, or printhead and reducing the risk of leaks and contamination.
3. Helps load ink into the printhead
   During initial printer setup or after the printer has not been used for a long time, the pump helps pull ink through the ink lines and remove trapped air.
4. Supports printhead cleaning and sealing
   The pump works together with the capping station, cap top, and wiper blade to keep the printhead clean and properly sealed. This helps reduce nozzle clogging, interrupted ink flow, and missing lines in nozzle checks.

How It Works

Printhead cleaning → The pump draws out waste ink → Waste ink flows through the tube into the waste ink bottle.

When Replaced?

The pump may be damaged or blocked if:

• Printhead cleaning does not improve the nozzle condition
• Waste ink builds up around the capping station
• No waste ink flows through the waste ink tube
• Missing lines continue to appear in nozzle checks
• No pump sound can be heard during the cleaning process
